About AngstyG
Am I a designer or a programmer?
I’m glad you asked. To be honest, I’ve always struggled with wanting to put myself into one niche. In one corner, my right brain who loves composition and creativity. There’s nothing like the thrill of creating something aesthetically pleasing. Art and design is at the core of who I am, and that’s where I started in this field. I have almost 10 years experience in graphics and have loved every second of it.
On the other hand, though design is undoubtedly fun and stimulating, it helps to have something to apply it to. Therefore, I began a long and windy road down the path of programming eight years ago. HTML, CSS, and Javascript to start, then more dynamic languages such as ASP and PHP. Nowadays, I’m dipping my toes into the software development pool and such languages as Visual Basic and C++. Basically, I love coding because it’s definite and I’m a weirdo who finds problem solving fun fun fun!
I gave up trying to only excel at one or the other, which is perfectly fine. They are great complimentary skills.
Personal Stuff
I’m a 26 year old artist, coder, hobbyist writer, fiance to a gamer, daughter to a cancer survivor, youngest sister to six siblings, owner of too many cats, insomniac, cupcake lover, media fan who doesn’t drive or own a cell a phone.
Yeah I said it: no cell phone.
My Dream Jobs
Book covers! Those are a blast. I also love doing unique and innovative website designs—the funky stuff you just wouldn’t see anywhere else. Logos can also be a ton of fun.
Experience
My first job in the field was a vector graphics designer position at a local t-shirt printing company. While there, I designed 100+ logos for local small businesses and eventually went on to manage the web design portion of the company. After some creative differences, I later found myself managing the web design division of a local computer repair company. While I was managing this division, I created 50+ websites for local small businesses and supervised a small team of developers. Two years later found me managing the website of a local newspaper publisher.
Why hire me?
Because I’m a single person who can provide the one-on-one attention your project deserves. Because I’m well versed in every facet of the website and graphic design process and don’t skimp on quality. Because I’m creative and approach projects from unique angles. Because once I make a website or a design, I’m married to it and will provide support for free until the end of the internet. Because your project is more than just a job to me; it’s a reflection of my proficiency, and I will put my whole self into overachieving. Because I’m cheap! And because I will make you cupcakes.
Not really.
But getting your project will make me so happy that I’ll want to, and that has to mean something?

Hosting and Domains
Please keep in mind that these aren’t provided in prices. You’ll need to purchase web hosting and a domain name if you’re purchasing a website. I personally recommend Dreamhost, as it has the best customer service and quality for the price. Actually, I’ve been having a major love affair with them since I moved servers in November. They also give you a free two week trial.
PLUS… Enter the following promo codes for special discounts exclusive to AngstyG clients:
Promo Code: angsty30
Gives $30.00 off your first year
Promo Code: angstydomain
Gives you 2 free domain names (mysite.com), which doesn’t include the one you already get for free.
So that’s, like, basically giving you the ability to host three websites on one server.
F.A.Q.s
Q – How long will my website/design take to complete?
A – It’s difficult to say how long it will take to complete any project. Variables such as project collaboration, workload, and feedback response times will effect the timeline of completion. If you’re purchasing a website, do not expect to see it go live in less than two months. Though I will do my best to expedite every process, please keep in mind that AngstyG isn’t a team of developers–it is only me. I make great attempts to turn work away when my plate is already full, but it’s still very often that I get inundated and may run behind. I do hope that a close relationship and competitively low prices are worthy of being rewarded with patience.
Q – How does payment work?
A – I do all my invoicing through PayPal at this address: angstyg@gmail.com. I require a 50% deposit up-front, and 50% upon completion. If the project is priced at less than $40.00, however, I usually waive the deposit and ask for full payment upon completion.
Q – What is web hosting and a domain name, and why do I need them?
A – If the internet were a library, and your website was a story, then hosting would be the book it’s printed in. Without the book–the paper, ink, and spine–you’d have no way to show people your words. They’d only exist in your head. Web hosting gives you the server–the paper, ink, and spine–to make your website accessible to everyone.
Whereas books have titles, websites have domain names. People need to know what to type into the browser to get to your site. It’ll look something like www.mysite.com, with “mysite” being a title of your choosing.

Q – How will I update my website? Will it be hard?
A – Your website will have a special back-end that no one but you and I can see. You’ll use a name and password to login. After you’ve done that, you’ll navigate to your blog posts or page listing and have the ability to edit the content. No html or coding knowledge will ever be required.
If you’ve ever sent an email, posted on a forum, updated a blog, or used any rich text editor, such as Microsoft Word, then you are already more than capable of updating your website’s content.
But, just in case, every client of mine will receive a special picture-walkthrough of every task that they can reference when necessary. I also commonly stick around for the first few blog posts or page edits to make sure you have everything right. I’m also always available for questions, and my websites are guaranteed for life, so even if you still need help months or years after-the-fact, I’ll be available for assistance.
Q – Do you have a phone number I can call?
A – No, I prefer to only communicate via email and chat for personal reasons. If it’s a very special circumstance, then I may make exceptions.
Q – If I pay the deposit and change my mind, can I get a refund?
A – Well, this question just makes me sad. Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee a refund of any deposit. Please keep this in mind when entering into an agreement. Hopefully, we can manage to work something out if it ever comes to this. You’ll find that I’m a very reasonable person to work with!
Q – So I already have this site… Can you edit/update/modify it?
A – Yikes! It’s always difficult working with an existing website, but yes, I totally can modify websites and graphics at a quoted price.
Q – Do you do Flash?
A – Never, sorry.
